We started off the morning by waking up in our beautiful mini mansion and devouring our free breakfast. We decided a trolley ride through the city was a good way to start. We admired the cute houses and did some great people watching.
Once we had completed the loop, we picked our first stop, Canal Street. We walked up and down the street and looked in the funny boutiques. We stumbled upon Bourbon St. and started our stroll into the French Quarter. We didn't make it far before we found out first "slushy" bar. Momma Amy made us some delicious mango margaritas and even threw in a few free shots! Momma might have also had one, this could be the reason the photo is blurry.
With it being legal to drink in the streets, we headed, drinks in hand, for our first restaurant stop. With it being our first time eating real New Orleans Cajon food, we grew some balls and ate Gumbo and Crawfish Étouffée. It was interesting...
After that small feast, we took it to the streets. We found some funky shops, such as Hot Chocolate, which was very misleading.
Somehow, we made our way to the Mississippi River, which was a real beaut.
After this tedious walk, we were famished! And with that, we were off to famous Muriel's. We ate what was probably the most delicious steak salad of our lives, then headed upstairs to view the rest of the haunted house/restaurant. Luckily we survived and Mr. Muriel did not get to us.
In a mild food comatose, we headed back to mansion to take a cat nap and freshen up. We took a quick stop at a foot spa and had fantastic foot and back massages. On the trolley ride back, we passed Lafayette Square which was gearing up for some event. Following short nap, we headed back to check it out! Turns out it was a live concert benefit.
We had a absolutely fabulous time, meeting a hilarious Aussie in the process. One of the galleries we walked into in the morning, had a painting of a carousel bar. We were determined to find it. Upon arriving at the amazing carousel bar, we sat next to an adorable Scottish couple.
We proceeded to stay at this bar for quite some time. We even attempted to replicate the painting from the gallery... Note the paintings on the backs of each stool.
Due to the beers Jess drank, and the bar nuts Jensen ate, we quickly forgot about the dinner feast we planned on eating. And with that we were off to Frenchman Street to hear some great live music. Though, we didn't even have to go to a bar to hear music, a great group of musicians were on the street to serenade us.
We met some fellow travelers at some jazzy joints and danced the night away. Jensen even played the "washboard" which, contrary to popular belief, is very difficult to play.
And for those of you wondering about weather, no it is not hot and humid. Currently it is a perfect 91* with low humidity.
WHO DAT!
