Taste of Austin

As we write this blog, we are sitting in massage chairs on S Congress getting much needed pedicures, reminiscing about yesterday.

The morning started with Helen running a 10K! She killed it, coming in at 1:08. 6th place in her age group! With it being 9:15AM, we thought we deserved a drink or two. Free beer and enchanted Mary's.
After lunch and a sad goodbye, we hit the road and headed to Austin. Luckily Eddie told us about iFly, so we stopped to do a bit of indoor skydiving! We looked pretty sexy in our outfits ;)
After a little thrill we headed to Joel's house. Soon after we headed to South Congress for some food.

Quickly we decided there were too many good restaurants to only go to one. So Restaurant hopping it was! We started at some restaurant that started with a "B" and had a fantastic caprese salad and some peach sangria.
Next we headed to Perla's and dined on some hush puppy's, grilled asparagus and beet salad. We were waited on by an adorable English boy, Alex.
We then arrived at Joel's favorite, South Congress Cafe. We dined on scallops and pork loin accompanied by a bottle of italian white wine. We were waited on by Zach Galifianakis. Zach was a little confused by our enthusiasm with life and and we came to the conclusion that he just didn't get us. We are a good time out in the open.
We took a stroll back down SC, dreaming of Perla's butterscotch pudding    Unfortunately, Alex was gone and they were closing. We decided to head to 6th street to hit up some Sunday night clubs!

We found hippie stores and played some Kangaroo Killer. Due to the fact it was SO busy, we were offered free drinks from all the bouncers.
The best stop of the night was a piano bar. The two pianists were fantastic and had quite a battle. The show ended with Jess and Jensen putting on wigs and being serenaded, quite raunchily, while sitting on top of the baby grands. Too funny and quite exciting for the older gentlemen in the bar :s
With a climax like this there was nowhere left to go but home to sleep! Austin is great and we only wish we had more time. There is a festival early October so maybe the wind will blow us back these ways. Next stop Baton Rouge, LA.
