Jensen experienced her first culinary fail of the trip. Feeling a few steps behind the day we were in need of some comfort food. After spending a good 45mins looking up every cafe within a 10mile radius and comparing over a dozen reviews, we settled. James was joining us for breakfast so the three of us jumped on a trolley to our destination. Our two meals were sufficient but unfortunately Jensen's pulled pork benedict looked as though it had been boiled in an old gumboot and tasted of watery tuna.
Luckily for us they had crayons so all was not lost. Inspired by the street artists we had seen the day before, Jensen produced this beautiful piece.
After a quick clean up and a few Advil we grabbed a frozen margarita from Jesters and hit the street. We walked the tourist trail, our destination: a jazz festival in the park. Awesome music and a great crowd!! We laid in the sun and let our minds drift through the summer breeze.
After a few hours our tummies took us back to Frenchman street. We had a light snack accompanied with some blues. Bought a few CDs, desperately needing to extend our driving playlist.
We wandered though the local art market. We met some very talented individuals and both purchased some hand crafted jewellry.
Stopped into The Spotted Cat music bar.
Then by 10pm we were exhausted...clearly getting old ;) On route to the hotel, we couldn't resist the idea of a relaxing massage. For the entire 50min we could not decide if it was the best or worst massage of our lives. It was brutal!! We were close to tears at one point. To top it off Jess had an allergic reaction to the paper towel her face was on and her eyes puffed up. Bed never looked so good!
We slept for a solid 11hours. Feeling bruised and beaten from the previous evening we loaded up the car and hit the road.
Stopping briefly at the boarder we got this snap. Attacked by a swarm of mating bugs we retreated back to the car.
We stopped in Alabama for lunch and had the best BBQ ever!!
The place was a small local off the beaten path. Amazing food and finished off with a banana pudding!
That BBQ looks delicious!! Jess, Benjamin wanted me to tell you he misses you a "ruff."
