Living Like Locals!

After a huge sleep in and some cold quesadillas for breakfast the "Shaw Boys" decided to get us outside and show us our age! We started on the trampoline where Luke dominated with his flips and stunts. In reply to Jensen's comment about not being able to do a flip Zach replied " How come a six year old can do it and you can't?" We then moved on to shooting hoops and some tennis. Had the court been twice the size I think Jensen might of actually won, even against Luke the only freshman on the varsity team.. Oh and he wasn't wearing his contacts..
After tennis, we loaded up the trailer and headed to New Braunfels to kayak down the river.
We were naturals to say the least. Oscar, the family dog, also came geared up in his life jacket!
We stopped for some lunch at the Dam where we were told there was a slide to play on... A natural moss slide
Jess got air...
After wearing out the slide we ignored a no trespassing sign and found a bigger challenge!
Well exhausted by now and only half way there we packed up the kayaks to head back up river. Such a fun day but it had to come to an end... After all it's rodeo night!!
Our rest was brief, with a dip in the pool to cool off, then off to the rodeo in Bulverde.
Being our first real rodeo it was very exciting. The smell of BBQ and bull fur was wafting through the warm Texan air. Cowboys in plaid leaned against fences and young lovebird practiced the two step.
The event was amazing! Barrel races, roping calves and mutton bustin' - which is where 4-6 year olds hang on for dear life to sheep!! Hilarious but concerning. The bull riding was a favorite, infact we were so into it we thought we'd give it a go!!
K so it's not a real bull but we did try our skills on the mechanical bull which was very entertaining!

Body sore, eyes heavy... Over and out!
